New Mass Software Council OSS SIG Blog

The Massachusetts Software Council's Open Source Special Interest Group just finished its first public meeting. About 100 people attended and most stayed for the full 6 hours. There was a general consensus that we should share lots of material online, including writeups of the meeting itself (it was a great meeting, I felt, as did the people I talked to), links to recordings of what was said (Novell paid for recording this so it could be shared), notices about upcoming events (we discussed a variety of different types), calls for volunteers, etc. To get something started right away, I'm using an existing blogging system I have on the Software Garden website (MovableType -- sorry it's not OSS...but at least it's written in Perl) and using a subdomain that I can point in the future to a more permanent, shared location (such as on the Software Council's website) and not break any links (I hope).

For now, people who want to add any material to this website should email it to me (danb at softwaregarden dot com) and I'll try to find a way to add it or pass it on to someone appropriate.

Over the coming days I hope to receive some reports from others about the meeting and will post them (or links to them) here. I'm also going to start converting the audio tapes of the meeting into MP3 files that people can download and listen to.

The RSS feed for this blog is (for now) oss-sig.softwaregarden.com/blogs/oss-sig/index.xml.

Feedback is appreciated.
